The project involves modernisation of the Česká Lípa railway station. It does not only concern the railway yard modernisation, but also new location of platforms including the roofing and the passenger building closer to the town. The project thus lies foundations to a completely new transit junction and creates an idea of the future developing areas and potential solution of this transit junction.

The new railway station project has several basic operational connections. Before entering the railway station, the passenger can chose whether to use the station building services (buy tickets, use the waiting room or toilet) or a direct access to the subway and the platform. In both cases, the passengers can use a barrier-free access to the subway using a pass-through lift located in the station building, which can be entered from the building and the outside. Thanks to this concept, this barrier-free access is maintained even after closing the building. Barrier-free access to the island platforms is also possible using the lifts. Direct access from the station building to the subway is provided by integrating one subway staircase directly to the building. The station building also allows direct access to the adjacent platforms.

Station building

The building is a square structure with a flat roof. The building with the dimensions of 31.4 x 11.8 m is partially rounded by a 3m edge of the roof. From the town (eastern façade), the edge serves as the building entrance roof and a shelter for the bus passengers. Towards the railway yard, it serves as the platform roof. From the south side, the subway entrance roof is attached to the building. Although there are two separate buildings, the subway entrance roof and the roof around the building create a single visual unit. The facades are a combination of solid and glazed sections.

As regards the operation, the station building is divided into three parts. The largest section is the station concourse with an adjacent waiting room, sanitary facilities and a ticket office area and with its facilities.

Roofing of the main subway entrance, platforms and lifts

The main subway entrance (staircase) roofing is a separately standing steel structure with two rows of supports. The roofing has a shape of the letter W. The structure is a combination of longitudinal and transverse girders covered with trapezoidal sheet. The bottom structure is covered with a ceiling. The ceiling architectonically unifies the railway station appearance, but also serves as protection against drops of condensate and sitting of birds.

The platform roofing is a simple steel frame in a shape of the letter V. The island platform roofing is 50 m long. The platform roofing also includes the staircase roofing and elevator shaft roofing. The shelter bottom face is covered with a ceiling.

The platform roof frame is pulled over the elevator shafts. It copies the elevator shaft dimensions. From the outside, the elevator shaft is sheathed with a double-skin façade from the same materials as the ceilings at the platforms and the station building.
