Verified options
On the Czech side, the study was based on option 4e of the approved feasibility study "Modernisation of the Plzeň – Domažlice – state border line" and in the Praha – Plzeň section, considering the situation after completing the III transit corridor modernisation (excluding the Praha - Beroun tunnel). Because of the heavy traffic, the time positions of the Ex trains at the Prague and Munich junctions were practically given. Three preferred options (3b, 3c and 5b) were selected from about ten conceptual variants differing in various combinations of the operating vehicles (railjet vs. pendolino), existence or non-existence of a junction outside Schwandorf and the time position of individual junctions in the shuttle timetable.
