A large reconstruction of the existing historical Prague Main Railway Station concourse, which is subject to the care of historical monuments.

The concourse was built in the early 1920s when it became one of the unique European structures not only due to its dimensions of 227 m x 76 m and the height of 18 meters. The steel two-aisle hall is an integral part of a protected complex of buildings at the Prague Main Railway Station. Its arched structure extends over the 1st and 4th platforms.

The construction included concourse drainage reconstruction, footbridge and handrail reconstruction and completion, new glazing in the skylights, the concourse sides and front walls and the Fanta Building shelter. The support structure was newly protected against corrosion, the roof covering was changed, the joints were checked and damaged rivets were restored.

The contractors of "Praha hl. n. roofing reconstruction Phase II" were Metrostav and PROMINECON CZ. It is a phased project. Phase I was co-financed from Operační program Doprava (OPD) in the programme period of 2007-2013 and Phase II was approved for co-financing from OPD in the programme period of 2014-2020.

The Phase I investment amounted to 304,093,823 CZK excl. VAT. The European Union contribution from the Cohesion Fund for Phase I amounted to 166,229,716 CZK. The Phase II investment amounted to 386,150,942 CZK excl. VAT. The European Union contribution from the Cohesion Fund for Phase II amounted to 261,920,823 CZK. The national funding of both phases was secured by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.
